Prices in euros from Amazon.de, as of 11 June 2026. Prices and availability may differ on Amazon.co.uk.

On hot days a pedestal fan brings quick, cheap relief: height-adjustable, oscillating, mobile from room to room. The most important decision is the motor: we compared six pedestal fans, three with a quiet, economical DC motor (for bedrooms and continuous use) and three classic AC units (strong wind at a small price). From 3D oscillation through the Quiet Mark model to the cheap model with remote control. Sorted by motor, blade diameter, speed levels, oscillation and remote control. All listed on Amazon.de, from €45. The most important question first: quiet and economical (DC), or cheap and powerful (AC)?

⌗ Detailed reviews

Every model in detail.

Which pedestal fan suits you: quiet DC for the bedroom or powerful AC for the living room.

01 · Our pick
⌗ Brandson DC Silent pedestal fan
Household appliances > Fans

Brandson DC Silent pedestal fan

Our pick: a quiet, economical DC pedestal fan at a fair price. The brushless motor draws a maximum of 30 W (level 1 only 2.7 W) and from 39 dB is suitable for the bedroom. 24 fine speed levels instead of the usual 3, 80° oscillation, height-adjustable up to 134.5 cm, remote control, timer, sleep/nature mode. Honestly: plastic housing, the highest levels are loud, up to 60 dB. Best value for quiet DC airflow.

02 · Quietest · Quiet Mark
⌗ MeacoFan Sefte 10 pedestal fan
Household appliances > Fans

MeacoFan Sefte 10 pedestal fan

The quietest in the comparison: from 25 dB, Quiet Mark certified, from a series that has won comparisons (testberichte.de 1.5). DC motor, 12 levels, even 3D oscillation (horizontal + vertical), usable as a 3-in-1 from table to pedestal unit, 3 years of warranty. Honestly: at about €180 the most expensive, the head sits well back (tips more easily), no app. For maximum quiet and the best oscillation, the premium unit.

03 · Premium · 3D
⌗ Levoit LPF-R432 pedestal fan
Household appliances > Fans

Levoit LPF-R432 pedestal fan

Quiet DC motor from 20 dB, true 3D oscillation (90° horizontal / 120° vertical) and strong airflow up to 2,465 m³/h with about 30 m throw, also for large rooms. 12 levels, 4 modes, magnetic remote control, 12 h timer, display. Honestly: no carrying handle, cable somewhat short, no app. Strong 3D oscillation with reach at a mid price.

04 · AC · QuietSet
⌗ Honeywell HSF600B Advanced QuietSet pedestal fan
Household appliances > Fans

Honeywell HSF600B Advanced QuietSet pedestal fan

The brand-strong AC pick: Honeywell with QuietSet noise suppression over 5 levels, noise/power indicator, remote control and automatic switch-off (1/2/4/8 h). 40 cm, 70° oscillation, height-adjustable 104 to 122 cm, tiltable. Honestly: AC instead of DC (less economical, not quite as quiet), lowest level sometimes too strong for the bedroom. Solid brand features without the DC premium.

05 · Budget pick
⌗ Midea FS40-15FR pedestal fan
Household appliances > Fans

Midea FS40-15FR pedestal fan

The budget pick: cheapest in the comparison (from €45) and still with remote control, 7.5 h timer and LED display, comfort you otherwise only get at a higher price. Midea brand, classic 40 cm AC motor (55 W, 5 blades) for strong airflow, 80° oscillation, height-adjustable 30 to 110 cm. Honestly: only 3 levels, not whisper-quiet, plastic. The cheapest pedestal fan with full comfort features.

06 · AC · classic
⌗ Brandson pedestal fan 40 cm
Household appliances > Fans

Brandson pedestal fan 40 cm

The plain one: a classic 40 cm AC pedestal fan for set up, switch on, done. 50 W motor, 3 levels right on the unit, about 80° oscillation, height-adjustable up to 122 cm, head tiltable: strong airflow without frills. Honestly: no remote control, no timer, audible on the highest level, plastic. Uncomplicated airflow at a small price.

⌗ Buying advice

Which pedestal fan suits you?

DC or AC pedestal fan: what is the difference?

The motor is the most important decision. DC fans (Brandson DC Silent, Levoit, MeacoFan) run more quietly, use less power (about 30 instead of 50 to 55 W) and offer many fine levels, ideal for the bedroom and continuous use. AC fans (Honeywell, Midea) are cheaper and powerful, but louder and with only 3 to 5 levels. Quiet & economical → DC; cheap & powerful → AC.

Which pedestal fan is quietest for the bedroom?

The MeacoFan Sefte 10 with from 25 dB and the Quiet Mark seal is the quietest in the comparison. The Levoit (from 20 dB) and the Brandson DC Silent (from 39 dB) are also suitable for the bedroom thanks to the DC motor. Classic AC units are often still too strong or audible on the lowest level. If you want quiet at night, you should go for a DC model with sleep mode.

What does 3D oscillation do for a fan?

With 3D oscillation the fan head swings not just horizontally (left/right) but also vertically (up/down), so the air is distributed evenly through the whole room instead of in one plane only. The Levoit (90°/120°) and the MeacoFan offer this. Simple units oscillate only horizontally by 70 to 80° (Honeywell, Brandson 40 cm); there you set the vertical angle by hand.

Is the premium for a DC fan worth it?

With frequent use, yes: a DC pedestal fan uses about 30 W, around half of an AC unit (50 to 55 W), and runs more quietly. If the fan runs many hours a day in summer, the somewhat higher purchase price pays for itself through the power saving, and you gain smooth running and fine levels. If you use the fan only rarely, though, a cheap AC unit is perfectly fine.

What else should I look for when buying a pedestal fan?

On height adjustment (usable seated or standing), oscillation (air distribution), remote control and timer (comfort, night switch-off; missing, for example, on the no-frills Brandson 40 cm) and stability (plastic units can wobble at full height). If you would rather have a tower or table fan than a pedestal unit, it is worth a look at our comparison of quiet fans.
