With or without a water connection: which mini washing machine do I need?
That is the most important question. With a fixed connection you get full-size, slim appliances: the economical Bomann (44 cm deep), the extra-flat Comfee Slim (40 cm) or the slim Exquisit top-loader (40 cm wide). Without a connection (halls of residence, camping, tiny house) you fill water by hose or bucket, for example with the tectake twin-tub or the small minis.
Which washing machine is the slimmest for small spaces?
It depends on the direction: in width the Exquisit top-loader is slimmest at only 40 cm (loaded from above). In depth the Comfee Slim wins with 40 cm; it fits into narrow bathrooms where the door would otherwise not open. A normal front-loader is 60 × 60 cm, so both save exactly the dimension that is tight in your room.
How much laundry does a mini washing machine hold?
The range is wide: the full-size appliances hold 6 kg (Bomann, Comfee) to 7.5 kg (Exquisit), enough for 1 to 2 people. The minis you fill by hand manage 3 kg (Steinborg, CLEANmaxx) to 4.5 kg (tectake), meant for small loads, sportswear or as a second machine.
Twin-tub, single-chamber mini or top-loader: what is the difference?
A twin-tub (tectake) has separate chambers for washing and spinning: stronger and faster, but bigger. A single-chamber mini (Steinborg) washes and spins in one drum: small, cheap, weaker spin. A full-size top-loader (Exquisit) is a real washing machine with a connection, just built slimmer. Twin-tub and single-chamber need no connection, the top-loader does.
Is a mini washing machine worth it compared with the launderette?
With regular need, yes: a cheap mini (from €60) pays for itself within a few months compared with launderette trips and saves the journey. For the complete household laundry, a full-size slim machine is more worthwhile. Tip: a mini washing machine combines well with a mini tumble dryer for flats with no space to hang laundry.
