⌗ Detailed reviews

Every model in detail.

Which air purifier suits which bedroom, allergy profile and budget.

01 · Bedroom pick
⌗ Levoit Core 300S
Household appliances > Air purifiers

Levoit Core 300S

The all-rounder for the bedroom: practically inaudible in sleep mode at 22 dB, display can be switched off completely, and the PM2.5 sensor adjusts itself in auto mode, for example during pollen season or cooking smells. CADR 240 m³/h is enough for rooms up to 50 m², and app, Alexa and Google are on board. ECARF-certified (European allergy-friendly seal) and ozone-free.

02 · Allergy pick
⌗ Levoit Vital 100S
Household appliances > Air purifiers

Levoit Vital 100S

The most powerful unit in the comparison, built for allergy sufferers: pet mode catches airborne pet hair and dander in intervals, and the washable pre-filter extends the filter life to 8 to 12 months. Clever for the bedroom: a light sensor switches display and LEDs off completely in the dark, and sleep mode runs at 23 dB.

03 · Quietest
⌗ Philips 600 Series AC0650/10
Household appliances > Air purifiers

Philips 600 Series AC0650/10

No appliance in the comparison is as unobtrusive at night: 19 dB in quiet mode, plus only 12 watts of consumption and one filter change per year (about €30), the lowest running costs in the field. In return you do without sensor and auto mode: you choose the three levels manually or by schedule in the Air+ app.

04 · H13 premium
⌗ Winix Zero S
Household appliances > Air purifiers

Winix Zero S

The only certified H13 filter in the comparison (99.999% separation), the benchmark for allergy sufferers with strong symptoms. With CADR 410 m³/h it covers the whole small flat with doors open, and the auto mode reacts via dust and odour sensor to cooking fumes too. No app, but a washable pre-filter and only one filter change per year.

05 · Smart budget
⌗ Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact
Household appliances > Air purifiers

Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact

Nobody else offers this much smart equipment for under €90: OLED touch display with live PM2.5 reading, auto mode, Mi Home app with Alexa and Google. CADR 230 m³/h for 16 to 27 m², the size of typical bedrooms and small living rooms. Replacement filters cost only around €20.

06 · Budget pick
⌗ Levoit Core Mini
Household appliances > Air purifiers

Levoit Core Mini

The honest entry-level solution for the small bedroom: light at 1 kg, economical at 7 watts, quiet enough on level 1 at 25 dB for the bed next to it, plus an aroma pad for scented oils. Without app, sensor and timer, but under €60. Realistic for rooms up to about 15 m²; for the living room it is too small.

⌗ Buying advice

Which air purifier suits you?

How quiet does an air purifier for the bedroom need to be?

Under 25 dB in sleep mode, and the display must be switchable off, otherwise the light disturbs more than the noise. The Philips 600 Series is the quietest in the comparison at 19 dB, with the Levoit Core 300S (22 dB) and the Vital 100S (23 dB, with light sensor) just behind.

Which air purifier helps best against pollen?

Every HEPA filter in the comparison reliably holds back pollen, which at 5 to 100 µm are comparatively large particles. The difference is made by the auto mode: units with a particle sensor such as the Core 300S or Vital 100S automatically speed up when pollen comes in while airing. If you want maximum tightness, take the Winix Zero S with a certified H13 filter (99.999%). Practical tip for allergy sufferers: air the room briefly in the morning, then let the purifier run on auto.

What does CADR mean, and how much do I need?

CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) is the volume of cleaned air per hour in m³. Rule of thumb: the purifier should circulate the room volume 2 to 3 times per hour. A 15 m² bedroom (about 37 m³) therefore needs 75 to 115 m³/h, which every unit in the comparison manages except the Core Mini on a low, quiet setting. For 25 m²+, 230 m³/h upwards (Xiaomi, Core 300S, Vital 100S) is the right league.

What does an air purifier cost to run?

Two items: electricity and filters. At 7 to 32 watts, typical operation (at night plus a few daytime hours) costs €5 to €25 in electricity per year. The filters are more expensive: €18 to €40 each, with a life of 6 to 12 months. The Philips 600 Series works out cheapest (1 filter/year at €30; 12 W); among the Levoits, the Vital 100S is more economical than its price suggests thanks to the washable pre-filter.

Air purifier with or without an app: what makes sense?

More important than the app is the sensor with auto mode: it regulates the output itself, without you ever having to think about the unit. The app is worthwhile for schedules (for example starting an hour before bedtime) and voice assistants. If you need neither, you save with the Core Mini, but then have to switch manually.
