What size do I need for 1, 2 or 4 people?
As a rule of thumb: 2 litres is enough for one person (about 300 g of chips), 3.5 to 4 litres for one to two people (600 to 800 g) and from 5 to 8 litres it becomes comfortable for 3 to 4 people. In a small kitchen, though, the footprint also counts: the COSORI Lite Mini needs only 21 × 26 cm, whereas the dual-zone models are over 45 cm wide.
What does an air fryer without preheating offer?
Preheating takes 3 to 5 minutes per cooking run on many appliances. Models such as the Ninja AF100EU start immediately, as do analogue appliances such as the Tristar FR-6989. With very small cooking chambers (for example the 2-litre COSORI), preheating is hardly necessary anyway, because they reach temperature in a flash.
Is a viewing window worth it?
A viewing window with interior light shows the browning without you having to pull out the basket and interrupt cooking. That saves energy and makes pastry in particular more predictable. It is available cheaply in the Aigostar Maha 4L, and in the upper class in the COSORI Dual Basket (in both chambers).
How much power does an air fryer use?
The connected load ranges from 900 W (COSORI Lite Mini) to 1,750 W (COSORI Dual Basket). A lower wattage means lower electricity costs per cooking run, and with frequent use it pays to look at economical models such as the Russell Hobbs SatisFry (1,350 W). In general, though, an air fryer cooks much more economically than a large oven, because the cooking chamber is small and heats up quickly.
Air fryer with 2 chambers: when is dual-zone worth it?
A dual-zone fryer such as the COSORI Dual Basket cooks two components at the same time at different temperatures, for example chips and salmon, and coordinates the cooking times via Sync Finish so that everything is ready together. That is worthwhile for couples and small families who regularly cook complete meals. For singles it is oversized.
